Pastoral Care

Matthew 25:35
‘For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in. I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

As we walk in obedience to our Heavenly Father, we can draw true joy in service to others. Whatever the need there is
always someone who can help. That someone can be any one of us. All that is needed is willing hands and a compassionate
heart. Please take the time to look below and see if there is an area where you can volunteer. We know that many hands
make light work, so perhaps your small group or family can join with you to lighten someone else's load.

THE NEEDS THE PLACE THE FEEDBACK
1
We would love to have a group that would cook for Pastoral care, perhaps once a month. They could prepare dinners and desserts for the freezer. This would allow those visiting the sick to bring ready cooked meals.

The church kitchen has been made available for this. It is important to prepare meals in a commercial kitchen when we distribute through Pastoral care.

Hospital visits: It is hoped that a team will be set up to organize hospital visits. If you feel that this is where your gifting lies put your name forward. There will be a coordinator who will contact you when help is needed.
Any and all hospitals.
3
Gardening: We get requests for gardening from time to time. This would be a wonderful ministry for some able bodied people. It will involve weeding, pruning and general clean up. If you feel this is something that you would like to organize please contact me.
Any and all areas.

The Churchlands Pastoral Care Team desires to fulfil the goals of loving God, loving each other and going into the world to make disciples. There are many ways of reaching out and caring for others with the love of Christ, both inside and outside our church community.

Lorraine Byrne gives leadership to the team, supported by one of our pastors, Mike Meyer.  Most of our pastoral care takes place within our small groups. Requests for a variety of assistance, including hospital visits, practical help and provision of meals come to this team through Lorraine or Alaine.
Lorraine can be contacted on 0431 304 192.

A team coordinates pastoral care in our Wednesday café. The goals of the team are

  • to bring people to salvation in Jesus
  • to help them to grow in their identity in Christ
  • to connect them into a small group and into the life of our church.

The team will coordinate prayer ministry and referral of people to Sozo and to a discipleship class. Phillipa Sandercock, our intern, is the team leader. It is our desire to see our whole community involved in pastoral care.
