Pastoral Care is provided to members of Churchlands along with the wider community, when requested, as both a service and a blessing. Our aim is to let people know that we are aware of their situation and that we are available to support them if/when required.
Pastoral Care may consist of a single visit or phone call through to prolonged support in the case of people with serious illnesses. Pastoral Care is coordinated by Pastor Roger Speldewinde and requests for assistance are made in the first instance through the
Churchlands receptionist. There is also a team of trained volunteers who share the responsibility of supporting people.
In addition to the Pastoral Care team we also have a team of trained counsellors who are able to assist those people who perhaps require a bit more help than just a sympathetic ear and a friendly smile.
Counselling requests are received for issues such as: pre marital; relational issues; family issues; separation and divorce; death and grief issues. The counselling process may only take one or two sessions or can be for an extended period if required. Requests are received in the same manner as those for pastoral care.
We work in conjunction with other professionals so that if someone requires specific assistance, for instance with a mental health issue, we have people we can then refer them to for further assistance.
